Bespoke Salon Furniture UK: Everything You Need to Fit Out Your Salon

AUUnique is a UK-based bespoke furniture manufacturer, hand-building salon furniture from our workshop for clients across the UK and nationwide. Founded by master carpenters with decades of joinery experience, every piece we make is built entirely to order β€” to your exact measurements, in your chosen colour, and in your preferred finish. We do not hold standard stock. Instead, we design and build each piece from scratch, working directly with salon owners, nail technicians, and beauty professionals from initial enquiry through to delivery and fitting.

We offer a free measuring and fitting service across the UK mainland, a trade discount for industry professionals, and lead times of four to eight weeks depending on the complexity of the order. Our salon collection covers reception desks, nail desks, salon mirrors, pedicure stations, and LED display units β€” everything you need to fully fit out a professional salon space.

If you are fitting out a new salon or refreshing an existing space, the furniture you choose sets the tone for everything. Clients notice it the moment they walk through the door, and your team works around it every single day. Generic, off-the-shelf pieces rarely do justice to the vision you have for your salon β€” which is why more and more salon professionals across the UK are turning to bespoke, handcrafted furniture built specifically for the beauty industry.

At AUUnique, we design and hand-build every piece to order from our UK workshop. Whether you are outfitting a single nail tech studio or a full multi-station hair and beauty salon, our range covers everything you need to create a space that looks exceptional and works hard.

Bespoke salon furniture UK β€” handcrafted reception desk, nail desks and salon mirrors by AUUnique

Bespoke vs off-the-shelf salon furniture: what is the difference?

This is one of the most common questions we get from salon owners planning a fit-out. The short answer is: with off-the-shelf pieces, you fit your salon around the furniture. With bespoke, the furniture is built around your salon.

Bespoke Salon Furniture Off-the-Shelf
Made to your exact dimensions Yes Rarely
Choice of any colour or finish Yes Limited
Consistent suite across all pieces Yes Difficult
Built for your specific space Yes No
UK-made craftsmanship Yes (AUUnique) Varies
Free fitting service Yes (UK mainland) No
Lead time 4–8 weeks Usually in stock
Price point Higher upfront, longer lifespan Lower upfront, often lower quality

The key trade-off is upfront cost versus long-term quality and fit. Salons that choose bespoke furniture often find they are still using the same pieces five or ten years later, whereas off-the-shelf alternatives frequently need replacing within a few years β€” or the salon ends up living with furniture that never quite fitted the space.

What to consider before buying salon furniture

Before you start browsing, it helps to think through a few practical questions:

  • How many stations do you need β€” now, and if you expand in the future?
  • Do you want a consistent finish and material across all your pieces, or are you happy mixing styles?
  • What is the flow of your space β€” how do clients move from reception, to treatment, to checkout?
  • What is your colour scheme and overall aesthetic β€” modern and minimal, warm and boutique, or bold and dramatic?
  • Which surfaces will take the most daily wear? Nail desk tops, for example, need to withstand chemicals and frequent cleaning.

The answers shape every furniture decision, from the size of your reception desk to the layout of your nail stations. Bespoke furniture gives you the flexibility to answer all of those questions properly, rather than compromising to fit whatever happens to be in stock.

Reception desks: making the right first impression

Your reception desk is the first thing a client sees and the last thing they interact with before leaving. It needs to look impressive, feel welcoming, and be practical enough to work from every day.

Our bespoke reception desks are available in a range of styles, from clean curved fronts to richly textured reeded finishes. Every desk is made to your exact dimensions, so it fits your space perfectly rather than leaving awkward gaps or overwhelming a smaller room. All desks are available in any colour, including Farrow & Ball shades and bespoke RAL or paint-matched finishes.

Popular options from our salon collection include:

Nail desks and manicure stations

A well-designed nail desk makes a real difference to how efficiently a nail technician can work. It needs to be the right height, have enough surface area, and keep tools and products within easy reach β€” all while looking polished enough to impress clients sitting directly across from it.

Our nail desks are handcrafted in the UK and available as single or multi-station units, in a wide range of finishes and surface materials. For the desk top specifically, we recommend tempered glass, protective resin, or solid Corian β€” all three are non-porous, resistant to acetone and gel products, and easy to wipe clean after every client. Standard laminate works well for the body of the desk, but a hardwearing top surface is worth the investment on a working nail station.

If you need a layout that is not listed, we build to order β€” so get in touch and we can work from your exact brief.

Salon mirrors and styling stations

Mirrors are the backbone of any hair salon, and they have to do more than simply reflect. A great salon mirror unit provides the stylist with storage, keeps the workspace tidy, and gives the client something beautiful to look at throughout their appointment.

Our bespoke salon mirrors are available in curved, arched, and contemporary flat designs, all with optional LED lighting and rear storage. Integrated LED lighting serves two purposes: it creates a flattering, even light for the client during their appointment, and it gives your salon a premium, polished look that photographs well β€” important for any salon building a social media presence.

Pedicure stations

Pedicure stations need to be comfortable for the client, practical for the therapist, and durable enough for regular use. Off-the-shelf options rarely tick all three boxes β€” which is why our bespoke pedicure furniture is built around your specific requirements.

Both options are fully customisable in size, colour, and finish. If you have a specific layout in mind, we are happy to work from your plans.

LED wall displays and nail gel units

For nail salons and beauty bars, a well-lit product display is both a practical tool and a powerful visual feature. Our bespoke LED wall units are designed to showcase nail gels, polishes, and beauty products in style β€” and they double as a striking focal point within the salon.

Why choose bespoke salon furniture?

There are plenty of suppliers selling standard salon furniture in the UK, but bespoke is a different proposition entirely. With off-the-shelf pieces, you fit your salon around the furniture. With bespoke, the furniture is built around your salon.

Every piece we make at AUUnique is produced to your exact measurements, in your chosen colour and finish. That means no awkward gaps, no colour mismatches, and no compromises on size. It also means that when a client walks into your salon, the furniture feels like it was designed for that specific space β€” because it was.

Our craftsmanship is entirely UK-based, and every order is managed directly with our team from design through to delivery. We offer a free measuring and fitting service across the UK, so if you are not sure where to start, we can come to you.

Frequently asked questions

What salon furniture do I need to open a hair salon?

To open a hair salon you will typically need: a reception desk, styling stations with mirrors (one per stylist), salon chairs, a backwash unit, waiting area seating, and storage for products and tools. The number of styling stations depends on the size of your space β€” as a rough guide, allow at least 1.5 to 2 metres per station to give each stylist comfortable room to work. Most salons start with two to four stations and scale up as the business grows.

What is the difference between bespoke and standard salon furniture?

Standard salon furniture comes in fixed sizes, limited colour options, and off-the-shelf finishes. Bespoke furniture is built from scratch to your exact dimensions, in your chosen colour, material, and configuration. The practical difference is significant: bespoke furniture fits your space perfectly, can be matched consistently across all pieces, and is typically built to a higher standard of materials and craftsmanship. It costs more upfront but tends to last considerably longer than budget flat-pack alternatives.

How much does bespoke salon furniture cost in the UK?

The cost varies depending on size, materials, and complexity. Smaller bespoke pieces such as single nail desks or wall display units start from a few hundred pounds, while larger feature pieces like full reception desks with LED lighting and premium surfaces can reach into the thousands. Full salon fit-outs covering reception, mirrors, and nail stations are quoted on a project basis. Contact us with your requirements and we will provide a detailed, itemised quote.

How long does bespoke salon furniture take to make?

Lead times vary depending on the complexity and size of the order, but most bespoke pieces are completed within four to eight weeks. Larger full-salon fit-outs may take slightly longer. We will give you a clear timeframe when you enquire, so you can plan your salon fit-out accordingly.

Can I order salon furniture in any colour?

Yes β€” all of our salon furniture is available in any colour, including Farrow & Ball shades and bespoke RAL or paint-matched finishes. We can also match existing colours if you are extending a current suite. If you have a specific colour in mind, simply let us know when you get in touch.

What is the best material for a nail desk top?

For a nail desk top, you want a surface that can withstand acetone, gel products, UV lamps, and frequent cleaning without discolouring or degrading. The best options are tempered glass, protective resin, or solid Corian β€” all three are non-porous, chemical-resistant, and easy to clean. We offer all of these surface options across our nail desk range.

Do you offer a fitting service?

We offer a free measuring and fitting service across the UK mainland. This is particularly useful for larger installations such as multi-station mirror units, island desks, and reception areas where accurate fitting makes a significant difference to the finished result.

Can you match furniture across different pieces?

Absolutely. Many of our salon clients order a complete suite β€” reception desk, nail desks, mirrors, and display units β€” all finished in the same colour and material. We will ensure everything coordinates beautifully across the full order.

Can you make salon furniture for a small studio or home salon?

Yes β€” we build to any size and specification, including compact pieces for home salons and small studio spaces. Because everything is made to order, there is no minimum size. We can build a single nail desk or reception unit that fits perfectly in a smaller room without overwhelming the space.

Do you offer a trade discount?

Yes β€” trade discount is available for salon professionals and interior designers. Please contact us to discuss your requirements and we will provide a tailored quote.

Frankie

“We have ordered a radiator cover and TV cabinet and they are so beautiful and unique. We loved that were made bespoke and have received so many amazing compliments on them. They were packaged amazingly well – we were worried as we have had bad experiences with damaged furniture from other companies. We love them so much we have already ordered another radiator cover. There was an initial issue with delivery (this was an issue with the courier) but Liam’s team were so helpful and ensured it was redelivered on a day that suited us.”

Robert

Jo

“I’m very grateful to Liam who, when I asked, made me a custom version (different colour and size, but the same design). I had a couple of queries which Liam answered really quickly and helpfully. I love it! The quality and workmanship is great, and it looks impressive in my hall. People are already commenting on it after only a couple of days. I’m really happy. Thoroughly recommend this.”
